Monster World Rally Team driver Ken Block reckons the second day of Rally New Zealand was his best ever in a World Rally Car.
The American Ford Fiesta RS WRC star posted top-10 times on the majority of stages north of Auckland to remain 10th overall on only his second World Rally Championship outing of the season.
"It's just been incredible," said Block, "definitely my best day ever in a rally car. The roads are fantastic, better than anywhere else in the world. We were catching air jumping from camber to camber through the corners, I have just loved it.
"We had one small spin, when we got the wrong side of one of the cambers, but otherwise it has been perfect."
Ford team principal Malcolm Wilson was equally impressed with Block's performance, saying: "Ken has been very impressive today. He's been consistent and quick throughout and not put a foot wrong, we're very pleased with that."
Block's pace was good enough to extend a half-minute lead over Manfred Stohl (also in a Fiesta RS WRC) by a further 41s.
