Manager Aidy Boothroyd insists it is down to the Northampton players to win back the faith of their supporters, starting against Crewe on Saturday.

Boothroyd will take charge of his first game at the weekend, when he is likely to be given a good reception by a fan base who were fully behind his appointment. Attendance levels at Sixfields have held up pretty well despite the club`s disappointing start to the season.

Boothroyd feels the time has come to repay that faith, and he told the Northampton Chronicle: "I know that results haven't been good recently but sometimes in football matches it is all about the finer details. There might only be one or two things that need to be altered that mean you get a draw, and then a couple of things to turn those draws into wins."

He added: "One thing we have to do is get the fans back in terms of numbers but that will only come from winning games, and winning games will come from two factors.

"Firstly it will be the players and the staff motivating the people in the stands who pay money to come and watch us and pay our wages. And we need the people in the stands to get behind the team but from what I can gather that has never been in question."
