Roger Johnson endured a difficult first season with Wolves

Wolves manager Stale Solbakken believes central defender Roger Johnson is on a "revenge mission" after a disappointing season in the top flight.

Solbakken is backing Johnson to win over the supporters following heavy criticism of his Premier League performances last term.

Johnson impressed at the heart of the Wolves rearguard during the second half of Saturday's 5-1 friendly victory at Bray.

And Solbakken, who has said that everyone has a clean slate under his leadership, told the club's official website: "Roger has a revenge mission to do from last season.

"I have told him that he can have a fresh start if he can handle the situation both on and off the pitch.

"From what I have seen so far he has trained well and is very fit and is mentally in a good place. It is up to him to bury things that happened or may have happened last year."
