Maloney insists that the American two-time world title challenger has signed for the 12 rounder.
The pair will meet again at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on Saturday 6th July. Thompson will even fly into Britain for press conferences and TV appearances during the first week of May.
Maloney said: “Everything Tony Thompson asked for he got and he has signed the contract for the rematch despite what people want to say.
“Why is it that people spread nonsense about fights not happening? They must have nothing better to do with their lives.” [Although, to be fair, many rumours end up being correct - this was not the case when similar rumours were spread regarding the first match between these two - Ed.]
Thompson, 41, beat Price in two rounds when they clashed in February and believes he will prove that win was no fluke. Maloney admitted that Thompson has been difficult to deal with adding: “Tony is a great pro and knows how to work a fight.
“But, he can be very hard deal with when you are making an agreement to fight. He doesn’t have a manager or promoter negotiating for him. Everything goes through himself and his wife.
“They have had me tearing my hair out, but signed the contract as soon as they received it.”
Maloney will announce a top class undercard in the coming weeks along with details of a Liverpool press conference which Price and Thompson will attend.
