Murray impressed last December with a draw after 12 rounds against then-WBA (Super) middleweight champion Felix Sturm, but no rematch was arranged and the 30-year-old has had to bide his time to receive another opportunity.

But after defeating Karim Achour on points in June, Murray will now put his unbeaten 24-0-1 record up against the spotless 12-0 Venezuelan Navarro at the Manchester Arena on November 24.

Murray’s manager Neil Marsh said of the bout: “Our team could not have worked any harder to secure a very important contest against a hard hitting unbeaten fighter ranked seventh by the WBA.

“We have tried many big names and for whatever reason, whether it be Martin being avoided or boxing politics we can’t make the fights Martin and the public want.

“In the end Navarro was the only one willing to face Martin on November 24.”

St Helens resident Murray added: “It has been tough getting an opponent, but Navarro is the only fighter ranked in the top ten willing to fight me.”

Hatton, who tried unsuccessfully to secure Murray fights with domestic rivals Matthew Macklin and Darren Barker, has been full of praise for one of his main pet projects at Hatton Promotions.

He said: "I am over the moon for Martin Murray.

"When you look at his domestic rivals Matthew Macklin and Darren Barker from an experience point of view, he has reached their level with far less experience.

"That shows natural talent on Martin's side."

Hatton will return from a three-year retirement against Vyacheslav Senchenko.

Also on the undercard, Scott Quigg and Rendall Munroe’s re-scheduled bout for the interim WBA super-bantamweight title will take place.
