Clijsters injured

Clijsters, winner of four Grand Slams, has been plagued by injuries in what is set to be the final season of her career.

The 28-year-old made her comeback from an ankle problem at the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, reaching the third round before being beaten by compatriot Yanina Wickmayer.

Her management company released a statement saying that the Belgian, now ranked 37 in the world, had been in discomfort as she warmed up for the match against Wickmayer, and tests in the wake of the defeat showed a "small torn muscle" in the right hip.

Clijsters is now targeting the Madrid Open, which begins on May 5, as her next tournament as she prepares for the French Open at Roland Garros later that month.
