Inverness midfielder Lee Cox is set to make his long-awaited comeback from injury later this month.

The 21-year-old is yet to feature this season after having a knee operation but will be given some game time in a friendly against St Mirren. Saturday`s Clydesdale Bank Premier League visit to St Johnstone is likely to come too soon, but Cox should be involved in competitive action next weekend against Dunfermline.

Manager Terry Butcher told the club`s official website www.ictfc.co.uk: "Lee Cox has been a bad miss for us and it's been a difficult time for the lad, who's been champing at the bit to get his season started. But he's now in good shape and raring to go. The game at Perth is just too soon for him but continued work should see him in the reckoning."

Butcher added: "He can be an influential factor in the midfield and it's a big lift to see Lee training and working hard."

Johnny Hayes - who has been sidelined since August 24 with a dislocated shoulder - has also resumed full training.

Butcher added: "Johnny Hayes' shoulder problem was a nasty shock to us right at the start of our campaign but he's just about there and the fans will be delighted to see him back.

"He, too, is unlikely to be ready for St Johnstone but should be available after the McDiarmid Park clash."
