2013 Dakar Stage 5 Yamaha Casteu

Bort (Husqvarna) completed the 183km route in 2 hours 7 minutes and 26 seconds, over seven minutes ahead of American Johnny Campbell and Slovak Ivan Jakes.

The route between Salta and Tucuman in Argentina included 492km of special but organisers were forced to reduce the course because of flooding.

Frenchman Casteu (Yamaha) was sixth but seized the overall lead from compatriot Olivier Pain.

Pain finished more than 30 minutes off the pace and is now fifth overall, 16:10 behind Casteu. He was one of a batch of riders who got lost at the 122km mark.

"A huge navigational success," said Casteu. "I'm over the moon because it's difficult to ride at the front while attacking and keeping your bearings, navigating.

"I was able to keep my cool while everyone else was spinning around, but I stayed focused and was the first across the line."
