Daley, Waterfield win diving title

Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield’s 10-metre synchronised bronze medal at the final FINA Diving World Series event was enough to hand them the overall title in Mexico.

Daley and Waterfield travelled to Tijuana with finishes of fourth, second and fifth from the three previous World Series of 2012 and they were once again at their consistent best.

They were awarded a score of 446.88 points to take bronze – home divers German Sanchez and Ivan Garcia second with 451.23 and American pair David Boudia and Nick McCrory winners with 453.57.

However there was more to celebrate than bronze for Daley and Waterfield as, with a Chinese pairing absent in Mexico, they finished the World Series on top.

Meanwhile Tonia Couch finished just shy of the podium in fourth in the women’s 10m platform while Jack Laugher was sixth in the men’s 3m springboard in Tijuana.
