Davies targets instant return

Kevin Davies has backed Bolton to make an immediate return to the Premier League following last season's relegation.

The Wanderers skipper has not experienced life outside of the top flight since a brief loan spell with Millwall during the 2002/03 season, but he thinks the rest of the squad is well equipped for the Championship.

"I've played most of my football in the Premier League, so it's been a hard summer," Davies told Bolton's official website.

"If you look through the squad, there are a number of players who have played at this level. We know what to expect - we'll be going to different places and a lot of teams will be looking for scalps."

Davies and Co will have to contend with 46 league fixtures this term, plus an earlier start in the Capital One Cup, and the veteran forward wants Bolton to fly out of the blocks.

"It will be interesting and I think we need to get off to a good start," he added. "We have three fixtures within the first six days so we have a chance to get points on the board and to set out our stall."
