The 24-year-old won four straight matches to reach the final before racking up a break of 88 in the opening frame and a scintillating 127 in the last frame.

“I felt good today and played well,” Ding said. “I felt tired yesterday but today was much better. I would like to qualify for the Premier League because I really enjoy playing in it.

“This is also very good match practice for the China Open next weekend and I hope I can keep up this form.”

Ford, who replaced Marco Fu at late notice, had stormed into the semi-finals, winning five of his six group stage matches - including all four matches on Monday - before edging Ryan Day 3-2 for a place in the final.

Ding, meanwhile, had struggled early on and was forced to win the last three of his group stage matches to qualify, before producing an impressive 3-0 semi-final victory over Marcus Campbell.

Ding joined Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy, Neil Robertson, Mark Davis, Mark Allen and Barry Hawkins in the Winners’ Group, the winner of which will qualify for a place in the Premier League, to be held later in the year.

The Premier League will feature the winners of 10 major events on the 2011-12 snooker calendar. Ronnie O'Sullivan, Trump, Robertson, Mark Selby and Stuart Bingham have already qualified - should a player winner two or more of the events, the remaining place(s) will be filled by invitation.
