Efes Pilsen clinch Top 16 spot

Turkish side Efes Pilsen clinched a EuroLeague Top 16 spot thanks to an 84-70 win over Olimpia Milano at Sinan Erdem Arena in Istanbul.

Sinan Guler starred for Efes with 14 points while Sasha Vujacic and Cenk Akyol grabbed 12 apiece and Esteban Batista 10.

Efes now boast a 5-3 record in Group C.

In Group B, CSKA Moscow extended their unbeaten record to eight games with an 87-74 home win over KK Zagreb, although the Russian side had to fight for victory.

Zagreb took a brief lead late in the third quarter before the Russian side, led by Nenad Krstic, pulled away in the final period to claim victory.

Jamont Gordon topscored for CSKA with a season-high 18 points, while Krstic netted 14 points and nine rebounds.

Panathinaikos stayed within touching distance of CSKA in Group B with a 94-59 win at Zalgiris Kaunas.

The Greek side, whose record reads 6-2, are now guaranteed at least a second-placed finish.

In other results, Cantu edged Bilbao Basket 67-64 thanks to Ginaluca Basile’s buzzer-beating three-pointer in Spain and Fenerbahce Ulker downed Nancy 73-53 in France.

Rounding off the night's action, Asseco Prokom Gdynia beat Union Olimpija 67-52 to register their first win of the season.
