Eoin Morgan credits IPL 'pressure' for helping 'long-term' cricket career

London, Apr 19 (ANI): England batsman Eoin Morgan has said that playing in front of 80,000 people during past Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons has helped his long-term cricket career. The recent state of instability around the England setup was enough to persuade the left-hander to make a late U-turn and forgo the riches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time since 2009 in an attempt to win his place back in the playing XI. According to The Guardian, however, Morgan has no regrets about putting the emphasis of his career on the 50-over and the 20-over game, although he believes that playing in front of 80,000 people during IPL tournaments under pressure and being the overseas player has helped his cricket for the long-term. Morgan however, said that he does not think a lesser stint at the IPL, an extra two or three months, April months, in England would have helped him in any shape or form, adding that he went from having a good one-day year, won the T20 World Cup in 2010 and then was playing Test cricket. With Jonathan Trott's battle with his stress-related illness placing his international future in considerable doubt, Kevin Pietersen's sacking and the indifferent forms of Jonny Bairstow, Michael Carberry, Gary Ballance, Joe Root and Matt Prior during the Ashes, Morgan is determined to seize his chance to stride back in the squad.
