Widely tipped to finish on top of the podium at her home event, Cornelissen could only manage second with an uncharacteristically under par performance which yielded just 85.42 per cent.

Langehanenberg on the other hand was at the top of her game with Damon Hill, completing one of her best efforts of the season - an 86.02 - which nearly matched the 86.77 which saw her win in Stuttgart in November.

Langehanenberg's victory sees her add 20 points to her World Cup qualifying tally - enough to see her ensure qualification for the finals in Gothenburg.

The podium was completed by Germany's Isabell Werth, riding Don Johnson FRH, with 82.05. And with Cornelissen already assured of a berth in Sweden, Werth benefits from the 15 points usually reserved for second place.

The result leaves Werth on 32 points overall, and takes her a big step closer to the 14th final of her career.
