The ex-Formula One racer has shone in his three appearances in the ERC, leading all events he has started and scoring 16 fastest stage times in his Citroën DS3 Regional Rally Car.
While Kubica has been particularly impressive on tarmac, Matton says gravel surfaces are better suited to the 2008 Canadian Grand Prix winner.
“It’s strange to say but maybe gravel is easier for him in the fact it is far away from what he was doing before,” said Matton.
“When he’s on tarmac due to the fact it’s closer to Formula One he’s too close to the limit without knowing and without being able to read perfectly the road. He’s not 100 per cent on gravel at the moment but maybe it can be a little more easy.”
