The final Group G encounter, which was postponed by 24 hours due to a waterlogged pitch at the Stadio Jose Alvalade, was a dead rubber game, with Sporting already certain of finishing bottom of the pool after taking just two points from their first five games.
Videoton were placed third on Thursday, but their hopes of becoming the first Hungarian club to progress past the group stages of a major UEFA competition were doused when Genk and Basel drew 0-0.
The hosts looked to have it in the bag at the 64-minute bag courtesy of Zakaria Labyad's strike, until Gyorgy Sandor briefly put Videoton back in the lead with an 80th-minute penalty.
That was until Valentin Viola rapidly netted again for Sporting three minutes later, before Sandor was red carded for a foul on Diego Capel to ensure the Hungarian visitors could not redeem themselves.
