Max Evans wants to impress when he plays at centre for Scotland

Max Evans is relishing the opportunity to be the centre of attention for Scotland in Saturday's EMC Test with Tonga in Aberdeen.

The 29-year-old has played the majority of his rugby on the wing for Scotland of late, but is eager to show head coach Andy Robinson his ability in his favoured role at Pittodrie.

"I'm massively excited, starting at 13, a position I've not started for Scotland for two years," The Castres back told Press Association Sport.

"That's my favourite position, the position I play for my club. Although I'd be happy playing in any position for Scotland, if I had the choice between wing and 13 I'd chose 13.

"Andy's given me a big opportunity and I'm excited about taking it on."

Evans is determined Scotland end a rollercoaster calendar year - featuring a RBS 6 Nations whitewash, wins in Australia, Fiji and Samoa, and defeat to New Zealand and South Africa - on a high.

"We came into this series on the back of three great wins, with huge confidence," he added.

"We played the first and second best teams in the world. We've got to take confidence from the fact we put them under pressure at times in both of those games. Against New Zealand we got three tries. It will be huge to get the win and it would be great to finish on the win going into the Six Nations."

Scotland captain Kelly Brown added: "The feeling we have after this match is the feeling that we will take into the Six Nations, so we're looking to finish the autumn series on a high. Every game we play we want to win. This game is exactly the same.

"The mood's really good. We've shown in the first two games that when we stick to our plan and when we do things well, we can put teams under pressure. For us it's about really nailing an 80-minute performance. We've shown in patches what we can do. We've not executed it through a whole match."
