The Bees want to move out of their current Griffin Park ground to a site on nearby Lionel Road where they also plan to build hotels, shops and up to 900 apartments.

Bees chief executive Mark Devlin is hopeful their application will be approved by Hounslow Council's planning committee.

Devlin told Press Association Sport: "It's very important to the future of Brentford Football Club and our aspirations and ambitions to play at a higher level and increase our fanbase.

"Griffin Park is a little bit tired now and the move will also provide regeneration on a site which is currently an eyesore and have benefits for the local community as it will house the club's Community Sports Trust.

"The case officer's pre-report suggested the application will be sanctioned. A lot of hard work and money has gone into the proposal.

"There are obviously some people who object to the plan but we hope the committee will give us the green light."
