Football - Beattie says relax

James Beattie has called on his Accrington squad to relax as they seek their first win in Sky Bet League Two this season.

Stanley, who gave former England striker Beattie his first job in management back in May, are currently propping up the table having lost seven of their eight games so far, the latest a 2-1 reverse to Rochdale on Saturday.

"Maybe we're waiting for things to happen in games or maybe the lads are trying too hard," Beattie said after the Dale defeat.

"When you're trying too hard to impress or to play well, sometimes you make the wrong decisions.

"A few of the lads need to relax a bit more and start making the right decisions. Hopefully having good habits and trying hard every day to improve will get us some positive results."
