Football - Bentley content with away point

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley was satisfied to come away from struggling Northampton Town with a draw ahead of next weekend's clash with leaders Chesterfield.

Neither side did enough to take all three points in a dour contest but the Cobblers will have been happy to pick up only their fifth point of a frustrating campaign.

Bentley said: "It was a fair result, Northampton got out of the traps quicker than what we did and looked up for it. But we warmed to the game and settled down.

"It was a bit too much end-to-end football in the first half for my liking but we tightened things up in the second half. We probably had the best chance of the game with Mark Hughes' header.

"We haven't kept many clean sheets before today so that was pleasing. It was a point gained and it keeps our unbeaten run going.

"Coming to a place like Northampton and getting a result is pleasing, any point away from home is a good one, especially here despite their start to the season. They've got one of the strongest squads and a very experienced manager.

"The results haven't been going well for them but they're still one of the strongest teams in the division. Overall, it wasn't a great game but it's another point gained."
