Football - Bluebirds improving on the road - Helguson

Heidar Helguson believes Cardiff's shaky away form is behind them after a thumping 4-1 victory at Ewood Park made it seven points from their last three away games.

In stark contrast to their 100 per cent record in south Wales the Bluebirds suffered successive defeats at Nottingham Forest, Bolton and Charlton before stopping the rot with 10 men in the 1-1 draw at Pride Park and then beating Barnsley.

And Helguson, who set up three of the four goals in Friday night's 4-1 win against Blackburn, says the emphatic result proves that the corner has been turned.

"It is easy to lose confidence when you are losing leads game after game, but we seem to have settled down away from home which is really good and against Blackburn we were not that worried," the Iceland international told the South Wales Echo.

"Blackburn was probably the best away performance we have had so far. We thoroughly deserved the win and by that margin as well.

"To be fair we had controlled the game. There was not that much pressure on us. Not as much pressure as there has been in previous away games when we have conceded. The confidence at those times had gone a bit down.

"Seven points from the last three away games, and they were difficult away games, makes me think that the away form thing has been put to bed now."
