Football - Boss speechless after Shrews defeat

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson was at a loss to explain how his side were beaten by Shrewsbury.

Ryan Lowe scored a brace to cancel out Tom Eaves' early double for the visitors but Dons defender Antony Kay needlessly volleyed past his own goalkeeper in the 69th minute to gift the Shrews a 3-2 victory at stadium:mk.

"I'm lost for words - they had two shots on target and scored three goals," said Robinson. "I can't question any of the players' attitudes, I don't think anyone shirked any responsibility.

"There were mistakes but the people who made the mistakes have arguably been two of our better players throughout the course of the season.

"I'll take responsibility because ultimately I'm manager of the football club, but if those players keep performing like they did they will win more games than they lose.

"I'm shell-shocked, I think any of us in the stadium will be shocked by the result when you saw how the game went. We were by far the better team, that is probably the luckiest 3-2 win you will ever see.

"Antony (Kay) is obviously gutted - the guy has not put a foot wrong all season. He said he didn't know what he was thinking.

"It's important now that the players don't get too despondent because they've got one of the biggest mountains in their careers to climb to try and get in the play-offs."
