The veteran defender has only played once this season but he has been sidelined with a bug for the last few weeks and has not trained with his Robins team-mates.
However, the 36-year-old is now on the verge of a return to action.
Meanwhile City are continuing to manage the situation with fellow defender Aden Flint, who has an ongoing knee problem.
"Aden has a bit of wear and tear in his knee," head coach Sean O'Driscoll told the club's official website. "We have to be mindful of it and manage it.
"His knee swells up after every game. It's not painful; we know the cause now and we have to monitor it."
