Football - Cooper blasts Robins' display

Swindon caretaker boss Mark Cooper pulled no punches after the lacklustre 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury.

Goals from Tom Bradshaw and Adam Reach secured an ultimately comfortable victory for the hosts.

The County Ground men offered little threat going forward, even after the introduction of new signing Nile Ranger, the former Newcastle striker, for his debut 20 minutes from time.

"We were thoroughly well beaten," admitted Cooper. "Sometimes when it's not going to be your day, in terms of football, you have to learn to grind things out, roll your sleeves up, win your personal battle, and we lost too many of them.

"We needed to show a bit of urgency. We played like it was a charity match. We kept the ball at times but I could have still played in that.

"We had put in three very good performances so we'll have to sit down and look at the DVD."

Cooper expects his future to become clearer in the next few days.

He revealed: "I've got a meeting with the chairman and the owners on Monday morning and it will all be sorted out then."
