Football - We deserved to win - Slade

Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade believed his side deserved all three points against Sheffield United as they had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw.

Outplayed before the break, the Blades stunned the home side when they took the lead after 67 minutes.

Shoddy defending by the home side saw the ball played across the face of the goal to reach the unmarked Conor Coady and he converted the simplest of chances.

It was left to Dean Cox to level matters in the 81st minute when his superbly-struck 20-yard volley beat George Long to give the home side a valuable point that took them back to the top of League One.

"Their goalkeeper was man of the match, he's pulled off two or three outstanding saves and the quality goal by Dean Cox deserved to win any match," Slade said.

"It was a great finish by the little fella, he's capable of that at any time and it paid off for all our enthusiasm, attitude and ability to keep going forward and creating openings.

"His goal earned us something from the game but we should never have been in that position, we should have been two or three-nil up by that stage.

"I felt we were totally dominant in the first half. Our intensity, our football was intelligent and inspiring and as good as we have played at times this season.

"I couldn't have asked for more. We've got bundles of attitude and character and even though we fell behind, we kept going.

"Okay we perhaps had a bit of a wobble when they scored but it was a horrible goal to give away from our point of view.

"Fair play to us, we certainly deserved to take something from the game."
