Steve Evans believes taking Rotherham to League One would be the biggest achievement of his managerial career.

Evans. 50, is on the brink of recording a third successive promotion, having delivered back-to-back rises to Crawley, provided the Millers avoid defeat against Aldershot on Saturday.

The manager, who joined the Millers a year ago, has not had it all his own way at the New York Stadium this season, but is desperate to join the select few managers to have won promotion for the South Yorkshire club.

"This is the biggest club I have managed by some distance," he said. "It has got a good fanbase, got some incredible players, so Saturday is a big day for all of us.

"Winning promotion will be the biggest achievement. When I came in people said it was a huge ask.

"There are very few managers who can claim they have taken the club to promotion, but when you can put yourself in the same bracket as the likes of Ian Porterfield, Ronnie Moore and Billy McEwan then you have to say that would be a wonderful achievement."
