Football - It's a farce at Blues - Robinson

Veteran defender Paul Robinson has described the current off-the-field situation at Birmingham as a "farce".

The Blues ended a turbulent season with a 1-1 draw against Blackburn on Saturday to finish in 12th place in the npower Championship table.

With ownership and financial issues still not settled, and a number of players, including Robinson, 34, out of contract, the former Watford and West Brom full-back is hoping for some stability.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "It's a farce, isn't it? This is a Premier League club, Premier League fans and the possibility of Premier League players.

"It has been a tough season with that off-the-field stuff and it must be difficult for the gaffer.

"It needs to get sorted pretty quickly because this is a massive club and it would be a shame to see it do like a Portsmouth and a Coventry."

The player signed a six-month contract in January but is not yet sure if his future lies at St Andrew's.

He continued: "We are still waiting to find out what's going on. I'd be disappointed if I didn't get something, put it that way.

"I look after myself, my body feels great and I know I can still go on for a couple of years.

"I feel like I deserve a contract with the way I have played and what I have done."
