Michael Higdon would be happy to stay at Motherwell

Steelmen boss McCall signed a two-year extension to his contract earlier in the week before Higdon headed Well on the road to victory with his ninth minute opener prior to team-mate Nicky Law's second-half double which secured the points.

Higdon, who has now netted 21 SPL goals this season, is out of contract at the end of the season, but said: "I hope to stay also. I've yet to speak to the club about a new deal so I'll have to see what's on offer. I'm in no rush but it's a definite possibility I'll stay. I'm very happy."

He went on: "I feel comfortable playing for the gaffer. There is no pressure. It's a really good environment in which to work and play. It was great for the club that he agreed to stay. He's an excellent guy and an excellent manager."

McCall was full or praise for his in-form players, who left Dundee trailing by 13 points at the foot of the SPL.

He said: "It's very pleasing. It was very open in the first half and I think we just stepped things up in the second half in the final third, which made all the difference.

"I'm delighted for Nicky Law. I've said to him that adding more goals to his game will be the difference between him becoming a really great player. He's got the ability to do that so it's not before time."

Dundee interim manager John Brown said: "We didn't help ourselves with the goals we lost.

"It's a steep learning curve. We have to do better in defence and that's the first time we've been guilty of that since I took over.

"But we'll keep battling on and won't give up on anything."
