Kiwomya has been placed in temporary control following Keith Curle's dismissal on Sunday and the former Ipswich and Arsenal striker, brought in by Curle to oversee the Magpies' development squad, will be in charge for the npower League One fixture at Stevenage on Tuesday night.
The 42-year-old is also expected to remain in charge for the home game against Crewe at Meadow Lane on Saturday.
On being handed the reins, Kiwomya said: "I'm very surprised. I came in as part of Keith's team, but changes have been made and Notts County pay my wages.
"They asked me to take over for a short period and I've accepted.
"I spoke to Keith and he is pretty fine with it. He's a good guy and I wouldn't expect anything otherwise.
"I'll just take each game as it comes. It's a good club and there will be a lot of people in for the job. I just want to put all my efforts into the team winning the next match."
Curle was sacked after almost a year in charge, with the Magpies 10th in League One and after just two wins from the last 11 matches in all competitions.
A 2-1 defeat at bottom-of-the-table Hartlepool proved to be the final straw for the board.
Kiwomya was brought in as part of Curle's coaching team last year following three years as reserve-team coach at his former club Ipswich.
