England manager Roy Hodgson has said that he plans to make changes in the Three Lions’ final match of the World Cup before they head home following a bitterly disappointing tournament.
Lampard will captain the side against Costa Rica, which would indicate that Steven Gerrard will be rested.
"I'll pick the side with a view to making certain all the players get some minutes," Hodgson told the BBC.
Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who suffered injury in England’s pre-World Cup friendly with Ecuador, is still not fit and won’t take any part in the match.
"Alex had a slight recurrence of the knee problem and will be out. The hamstring injury to Leighton Baines has ruled him out, too," Hodgson added.
