The only bright spot from them was a second half debut performance from winger Reuben Noble-Lazarus, signed on loan from Barnsley, who rattled a post with a cracking effort.
"Our first half performance was just not acceptable," fumed Laws. "I know that - and so do the fans.
"I was bitterly disappointed with the way we played as a team - and with some individual performances.
"But my criticism of individuals will stay in the dressing room.
"There was no passion, no drive and no determination in that first half. We played the game at such a slow tempo that it invited Accrington to get into the game.
"We got what we deserved for that first half display.
"If we had played anything like we did in the second half, then we might just have got something from the game."
Laws was also disappointed that, for the second time in a fortnight, Scunthorpe blew the chance of moving into the top seven.
"We cannot allow it to happen again," he insisted.
"But we have got to show a huge, huge improvement on what we are producing at the moment.
"I brought Reuben in last week on loan from Barnsley to give competition for places - but I could have taken anybody off at half-time.
"We had made so many bad decisions both in defence, midfield and up front."
