The Easter Road side lost 9-0 on aggregate to Malmo in their Europa League qualifier before losing 1-0 to Motherwell in their league opener last week to leavemanager Pat Fenlon already under scrutiny.
Hearts began the season on minus 15 points and with a registration embargo after they lapsed into administration and lost 1-0 at St Johnstone last week in their league opener.
When the former Gorgie skipper was asked about Hibs' disappointing start to the season he said: "I think that is a bit unfair. We are only one game into the season.
"Obviously they had a disappointing result in Europe but we are one game in so to be saying they are having a disappointing season is a bit harsh in my opinion.
"I think we are both under pressure. I don't think there is any more pressure on them than there is on us.
"We are both desperate to win the game, it is a big game for both clubs and we will be doing the best to win it
"But it is important that I just concentrate on Hearts.
"It is only the second game and we will only get three points if we win.
"But with both of us getting beat on the opening day of the season that makes it more important to try to get the points on board, for different reasons.
"Hibs will be looking to get their season up and running while we are trying to dig into a 15-point deduction."
