Football - McLean knee operation delayed

St Mirren skipper Jim Goodwin will sit out Thursday's Scottish Premiership meeting with Kilmarnock after accepting a two-match ban for hitting Dundee United midfielder Stuart Armstrong with a forearm smash.

Midfielder Kenny McLean could feature, though, despite boss Danny Lennon admitting he needs a knee operation.

The Scotland Under-21 cap missed Sunday's draw with Hearts and needs a tidy-up procedure on a meniscus problem but the operation has been delayed until after the Buddies come through the busy festive period.

Marc McAusland (migraine) and Lee Mair (groin) are also doubts while winger Gary Teale (hernia) and defender David Barron (ankle) are definitely out with long-term issues. However, new loan signing from Newcastle Adam Campbell could play at some point.
