Football - McLean out of Premiership opener

St Mirren will be without Kenny McLean for their Scottish Premiership opener with Inverness as he battles back from a knee injury.

PA Sport Report

The Scotland Under-21 international feared he had ruptured knee ligaments after a training-ground accidentbut Buddies boss Danny Lennon has been reassured that McLean will now only sit out the trip to the Highlands.

Long-term absentee David Barron (ankle) is still some way from fitness but Darren McGregor could make his competitive comeback against Terry Butcher's men after missing virtually two years of action with successive cruciate tears.
