Dundee United's manager Jackie McNamara aims to halt St Mirren's recent progress at Tannadice

Lennon's future was subject to intense speculation after a poor start to the season which saw the Paisley side go eight games without a win, but the spotlight has shifted following two successive victories.

However, McNamara is looking to inflict another dose of misery on his Buddies counterpart.

He said: "They are on a decent run at the moment, with seven points out of nine.

"After the stick Danny took, credit to him, he stuck to his guns and he proved a few people wrong.

"Obviously I don't know the St Mirren board but I think you have to look at it, he brought them silverware last year (League Cup), and the fans had a fantastic day out.

"That is something I would love to do here.

"Yes, they have had a bad start to the season but looking at their games there wasn't much in it between (losing) and drawing.

"Sometimes that is a thin line as we saw last week at Aberdeen. But hopefully, we can send him back down the road miserable again."

United's five-game unbeaten run came to an end at Pittodrie with a 1-0 defeat and while McNamara will "take the positives and not the negatives" from the game, he is looking for better concentration against St Mirren.

"We did enough to win the game but we didn't, so we have to look forward to the game on Saturday," he said.

"I thought we were comfortable but we switched off once at the back and it cost us three points.

"You could also talk about (a lack of) concentration at the other end as well, finding the final pass, getting our shot away or taking our chance to score.

"The higher level you go, the concentration levels have to be better. It is something you can work on."
