Just three days after seeing their cup dreams dissolve in unfortunate circumstances at Barclays Premier League Swansea, Boro, aided by the return of England defender Jonathan Woodgate, scrapped their way to a 2-0 npower Championship win over Wolves which maintained their promotion push.

Mowbray told the Evening Gazette: "It was a game I was concerned about. We didn't get back to the training ground until 6pm on Thursday and due to the weather, were weren't able to train.

"Therefore it was a performance anybody connected to the club should be proud of.

"We weren't slick, we didn't pass the ball as well as we can and even the subs who came on looked a bit leggy, so for us to keep a clean sheet was fantastic, and I can't find the adjectives to say how great Woody and Seb Hines were.

"I'm so pleased and proud of them. Woody coming back into the side made a big difference for us."
