The Daggers had a golden opportunity to close the gap on the Sky Bet League Two play-off places against a Pools side who had won just one of their previous six games going into kick-off.
But a frustrated Burnett was instead left to admit post-match that his side deserved nothing from what was a disappointing display.
Murphy, who has found the net 13 times this term, told the club's official website: "We had a meeting this morning (Monday) and the gaffer has reminded us that the performance we put in on Saturday isn't good enough and won't be accepted.
"We have to remember what we want to achieve this year and we have to stay positive, the previous three results were all positive, and it's important to get back to that on Saturday."
Murphy added: "I wouldn't say that result has put more pressure on us, there's still 16 games to go and we know what we need to do to achieve the play-offs this year.
"It's taking it game by game and making sure we get as many points between now and the end of the season."
