Many pundits queried how Rangers would cope in the second tier after such a disappointing season in the top flight last time around, but Harry Redknapp's men have now collected 10 points from the first 12 available.
"I'm pleased with the result and the performance as well. It's not an easy place to come to, Bolton," said Jordan.
"It's important to try and measure yourself against a team that's not been long in the Championship. You've got to get a barometer of how you're doing and I thought this was a tester in that respect.
"As history has shown, you've got a lot of teams that have come out of the Premier League and they've not quite grasped how difficult the Championship can be. I think we've started in a way that we've shown the correct application and got on with it.
"We've got some results and I think we'll improve, we showed some quality, but I think we can get better."
Skipper Hill, playing at full-back, was the architect of the goal as he maintained his run via a one-two with Austin before putting the ball on a plate for Johnson to rifle home.
"It was terrific football," added Jordan.
"All credit to Clint Hill who has been asked to play in that position. Not only did he defend strongly but to get forward and to be part of an exquisite goal...that just showed you the quality of the move."
