Remy joined the Rs from Marseille last month and scored on his debut against West Ham, but was absent from their goalless draw with Norwich at Loftus Road after pulling up in training on Friday.
Some newspapers had claimed that Remy's injury could rule him out for up to two months, but speaking at a QPR fans' forum on Thursday night, Redknapp said the player could return against Swansea on Saturday providing he is satisfied the injury will not be aggravated.
"He's close to being fit for Saturday," Redknapp said.
"He trained this morning, he's very close.
"But I don't want to rush him in case he breaks down."
