Relegation-threatened Stanley have won one in 14 League Two games but young manager Richardson knows this was a step in the right direction.
"It was a fantastic performance," said Richardson, despite Stanley still being in the bottom two. "I would go as far as saying it was our best performance of the season.
"We are just disappointed we didn't win and we are not hiding behind the fact that we need to win games but if we turn in another 13 games like that we will win more than we lose.
"We had enough chances to win five games but I am a positive person, I believe in what I do and I am sure we will get out of it.
"From one to 11 we were superior to them and I am sure Cheltenham are getting on the bus wondering how they got a point from this game. But we can't affect this game now and we look forward to Rochdale on Tuesday and building on this."
