With Danny Ings, who has 25 goals this season, sidelined for the foreseeable future with an ankle injury, it provided Ashley Barnes with an opportunity to start.

And he took the chance with both hands in this Sky Bet Championship game, scoring the opening goal with a header on 38 minutes.

Sam Vokes then netted his 20th goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 55th minute after he had been fouled by Dorian Dervite, before substitute Michael Kightly wrapped up the win at the end when his cross was deflected in.

"We knew already before the game that Burnley are a very efficient team," said Riga.

"We played on Tuesday and they didn't and they were already good physically, so I think that we have to be more efficient - which isn't easy.

"Certainly we had the first chances during this game. But instead of scoring we conceded.

"It was already difficult to score against this team but we conceded and we knew at that moment it would be more difficult and we maybe had to change the way we play.

"We continued even in the last quarter to try to play more realistically, more direct - but, against this team, they were waiting for that."
