Football - Stokes set to stay with Hoops

Anthony Stokes helped Celtic to a convincing William Hill Scottish Cup final win at Hampden Park then claimed to be "100%" confident he will sign a new contract with the Parkhead club.

The Irishman is out of contract soon, but he reminded the Parkhead fans of his talents as he twice set up Gary Hooper for first-half goals before midfielder Joe Ledley sealed the domestic double with a strike after the break in a 3-0 victory over Hibernian.

Afterwards, the former Hibs striker was asked about whether he would be returning to the club for the start of the season and said: "I expect to be here, 100%.

"The contract is getting sorted out and I am very confident about it.

"My agent has been speaking with the club for the last week or two so I am sure something will get sorted."

Hoops manager Neil Lennon described Stokes' performance as one of his best in a Celtic shirt, but the striker said: "I don't know about that. I was happy with my performance but the most important thing was the result.

"We dominated the game, played well, worked hard and got the result we wanted.

"We finished on a high and we are all delighted. It couldn't have worked out much better."
