Football - We've achieved nothing yet - Wilcox

In-form Scunthorpe stretched their club unbeaten record to 22 games with a big 1-0 victory against promotion rivals Burton, but manager Russ Wilcox warned them they have achieved nothing yet.

A 59th minute volley from striker Paddy Madden was enough to seal all three points in a tight game and the home side could afford the luxury of a 75th minute missed penalty from Gary McSheffrey after he had been brought down.

"Obviously we are pleased with where we are but 68 points is not enough to win automatic promotion - and that is what we want," cautioned Wilcox.

"There are still eight huge games to go for us and we have to remain focused. The first 45 minutes against Burton were perhaps the worst we have played since I took charge.

"There was not enough urgency in our play and there was not enough quality - and I don't know why.

"I warned the players at half time that if there was not an improvement then I would make changes.

"That is what I had to do and it shows the benefit of having a strong bench. We had to improve and we did and in the end we finished the better team.

"The goal that won it for us from Paddy Madden was worthy of winning any match.

"It was a terrific strike and reward for the work that he does for the team.

"It would have been nice if the penalty had gone in to give us a bit more breathing space but I thought we managed the closing period of the game well."
