The pair descended on the venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics for the penultimate World Cup event of the campaign with Zongyang able to wrap up the title with one event remaining.

But it wasn't to be as he could only 11th, and compatriot Guangpu made the most of the slip as he finished top of the pile.

Zongyang still holds on to the World Cup lead but is now 93 points ahead of Guangpu ahead of the final event in Bukovel, Ukraine, next weekend.

Elsewhere, China's Xu Mengtao might have wrapped up the women's title but that doesn't mean she is taking it easy as she also topped the podium in Sochi.

Mengtao has been nearly untouchable this season and she wrapped up a fifth win from a possible six with ease.

The real battle in the women's ranks is for second with Australians Lydia Lassila and Laura Peel battling it out, the former just 11 points ahead of her compatriot with one event left.
