The 30-year-old France international has now been with the newly-crowned treble-winners for six seasons, and his current deal expires in 2015.

And though Ribery is admittedly in no rush to sign an extension, he sees it happening shortly after incoming coach Pep Guardiola fully takes over from Jupp Heynckes.

"We have discussed it all," said Ribery. "And saying 'yes' means 'yes' to me.

“We would not really need a player (to sign on). But I know we have to sign and this will happen as soon as possible, although there is no use in feeling like being in a rush.

"I am excited about being at Bayern Munich. I am very happy too, like I have never been in my life before. Why should I join another club? To move elsewhere and potentially feel less happy?”

Though a precise length of the proposed extension has not been confirmed, Ribery’s talk of having a testimonial at the Allianz Arena suggests a two-year add-on until 2017 is on the table.

As Ribery will be 34 by that point, the thought of retiring with the European champions is something he is also open to.

"If I am going to retire from the game as a Bayern Munich player I would like to do it as a 'Grand Seigneur', with a testimonial match,” he added.
