Hibs not safe yet - Brown

Assistant manager Billy Brown knows Hibernian cannot afford to relax in their Clydesdale Bank Premier League survival battle with Monday's opponents Dunfermline despite opening up a five-point lead at the bottom of the table.

Hibs beat Aberdeen 2-1, but the Pars' point in a 0-0 draw at Inverness on Wednesday night means victory at Easter Road on Monday can take the relegation duel to the final day of the season.

Brown said: "It's certainly not over and done. Dunfermline can still catch us.

"That point they got last night is a valuable point, but we've got to take confidence out of last night's result and take that into Monday's game.

"The job's not done yet and we've got to make sure we get it done on Monday."

Brown began the season as assistant manager at Hearts alongside Jim Jefferies, now the Dunfermline boss, and the duo have enjoyed a long career working side by side.

"It will feel strange him being in the opposite dugout to me," Brown added.

"I wish the positions were different and that this game didn't mean as much, but we're professionals and all I'm concerned about is winning for my team."

A point would be enough to preserve Hibs' status, but Brown knows Jefferies will be seeking the victory his side need and the hosts are set to go on the attack themselves.

Brown added: "There's no chance of Hibs going out to try to hold on to a point. That's crazy. "We'll just play the game as we normally would."
