Holly Holm Draws Raquel Pennington for UFC Debut

Former world boxing champion turned mixed martial artist Holly Holm finally has an official date and opponent for her UFC debut.

While speculation had pointed to Russian fighter Milena Dudieva for her Octagon debut, UFC officials on Thursday announced that Holm would debut against Raquel “Rocky” Pennington at UFC 181 on Dec. 6 in Las Vegas.

Holm (7-0) came to the world of mixed martial arts in 2011, following a boxing career that saw her win multiple world titles and amass a record of 33-2-3. After making her MMA debut, Holm has gone undefeated and won six of her seven fights by either knockout or technical knockout.

Pennington by contrast is 4-4, but has faced some tough competition, losing to top bantamweight contender Cat Zingano and former Invicta FC title challenger Leslie Smith. She fought her way into the UFC via the eighteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, defeating Roxanne Modafferi on the finale before dropping a split decision to Jessica Andrade at UFC 171.

A welterweight championship rematch between titleholder Johny Hendricks and challenger Robbie Lawler headlines UFC 181.
