Holly Holm Injured, Out of UFC 181 Fight Against Raquel Pennington

The anticipated UFC debut of Holly Holm will have to wait. The multi-time world boxing champion and undefeated mixed martial artist has been forced out of her scheduled UFC 181 fight against Raquel Pennington due to an undisclosed injury.

MMAbyneko.com first reported the news on Thursday and sources later confirmed the development.

Holm (7-0) captured the Legacy FC women’s bantamweight championship by knocking out Juliana Werner in April. Following prolonged and sometimes rocky negotiations, on July 10, the Jackson-Winkeljohn trained fighter inked a five-fight deal with the UFC.

She was set to make her promotional debut on the UFC 181: Hendricks vs. Lawler II main card on Dec. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

A replacement for Holm has yet to be named, but Pennington remains listed on the fight card.
