Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington Rescheduled for UFC 184

Multi-time world champion boxer turned undefeated mixed martial arts fighter Holly Holm was initially supposed to make her Octagon debut opposite Raquel Pennington at UFC 181 on Dec. 6. Holm, however, had to pull out of the fight due to injury.
Pennington went on to welcome UFC newbie Ashlee Evans-Smith at UFC 181, submitting her with a bulldog choke one second before the opening round horn sounded.
Now Holm and Pennington are once again slated to face each other as part of the UFC 184 fight card scheduled for Feb. 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Holm (7-0) came to the world of mixed martial arts in 2011, following a boxing career that saw her win multiple world titles and amass a record of 33-2-3. Since making her MMA debut, Holm has gone undefeated and won six of her seven fights by either knockout or technical knockout.
“When I first started doing MMA, people asked me what my goal was in this, and my goal is to be the first female that has titles in both MMA and boxing because nobody’s done that,” Holm said after signing with the UFC in July. “And it’s totally doable, and that’s my plan.”

Pennington by contrast is 5-4, but has faced some tough competition, losing to top bantamweight contender Cat Zingano and former Invicta FC title challenger Leslie Smith. She fought her way into the UFC via the eighteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter, defeating Roxanne Modafferi on the finale before dropping a split decision to Jessica Andrade at UFC 171. She then rebounded with the victory over Evans-Smith in December.
The UFC 184 is heavy on big-name talent, including two title fights at the top of the bill. Middleweight champion Chris Weidman puts his belt on the line against Vitor Belfort in the headliner, while women's bantamweight titleholder Ronda Rousey faces Cat Zingano in the co-main event.
