Trading Leather took a commanding victory in the Irish Derby as the 6/1 horse triumphed on Saturday.

Ruler of the World and Libertarian both failed to fire at The Curragh in the feature race with tame performances.

The pair were genuine disappointments as Libertarian even failed to get to his pacemaker Cap O’Rushes, who ended up finishing in fourth.

Outsider Ralston Road led the way from the opening stages, before Manning took on the pace.

Trading Leather was not to be denied in the final furlong, however, and he took a memorable victory in the Derby.

Galileo Rock (9/1) was not able to challenge as had been predicted pre-race, while Festive Cheer (33/1) finishing in third.
